Love Italian? Then you might want to consider The Olive Garden Italian Restaurant. The Olive Garden has taken our gluten free needs into consideration. They serve a verity of gluten free pasta dishes such as Penne Rigato Pomodoro, Marina, and a few other pasta dishes. I must be honest while I did finish every last bite of pasta The Olive Garden is following the trend of other restaurant when it comes to how gluten free pasta is prepared. They too are preparing gluten free pasta ahead of time and then reheating as needed therefore the texture of the pasta is not consistent. Some bites of pasta are a bit over done while others are hard to the tooth while others are just right. One the other hand they are using penne pasta which holds up much better than spaghetti and if this is what it takes to keep us safe and to offer gluten free fair I for one can live with it. In addition, to pasta dishes which can be served with a topping of chicken or shrimp you can also choose from a verity of grilled meats such as a sizzling twelve oz. center cut sirloin to round of any meal. I was tempted to try grilled chicken or fresh from the sea salmon. And lets not forget those fabulous bowls of salad topped with sliced red tomatoes, black olives and zesty yellow peppers.
I had the pleasure of speaking with the manager and asked him a few questions. Until then he hadn’t realized that it is possible for them to order prepared bread sticks ready to go. He also hadn’t considered the fact that there wasn’t anything gluten free on the dessert menu. He was however, willing to provide me with the name of the regional manager and suggested that perhaps I also contact their test kitchen. I hope to contact them within the next few weeks because I also noticed that while the restaurant was serving other dishes such as risotto which if not already being prepared gluten free easily could be.
My final thoughts about The Olive Garden would be consider trying it. The food was good and provided my family with another nation wide option. What are your thoughts?
